Simple Ingredients for a Complex World

We aren't claiming to be geniuses here at deDANÚ but we do understand the power of simplicity; the idea that nature creates beautiful things, and these things, in their simplicity provide for us, nurture us and sustain us. 

With this in mind, we welcome you to look at some of the seemingly simple ingredients we use in a number of our products, all formulated, manufactured and distributed from our laboratories in Athlone, Ireland. 

Comfrey: We love using this beautiful herb in our skincare products because it has a wonder ingredient, ‘allantoin’ which is said to be hydrating, naturally exfoliating, repairing, protecting and soothing the skin. Due to Comfrey’s high antioxidant status, topical application also helps to reduce free radical activity on the skin. Natural allantoin can actually help to reduce abnormal thickening of the skin caused by “keratinisation” - if this is out of balance more keratin than usual is produced and the structure of the barrier function is changed. Allantoin interacts with the skin’s keratin to thin out an abnormal, thick stratum corneum, and this is the reason that allantoin is known for leaving skin feeling smooth. Hemp Seed Oil is great for most skin types as it moisturizes without clogging pores. It helps to balance out oily skin, hydrating it and regulating the skin's oil production while avoiding the overproduction of oil which stimulates acne. Our favourite benefit of hemp seed oil is its high levels of fatty acids, especially linoleic acid which strengthens the barrier of the outermost layer of the skin which helps keep the skin supple, smooth and healthy. We use hemp seed oil in many of our products (it's one of our favs). Juniper Berry is known for its ability to act as a natural skin toner and reduce the appearance of skin blemishes. Juniper Berry will support a clear and healthy complexion. We infused juniper berry along with linseed oil and olive oil into our Phyto Face Cream, giving you a multi-purpose cream that packs a real punch! Did we mention it smells gorgeous too?  

Linseed oil is famous for its polyunsaturated fatty acids, which include oleic, linoleic, palmitic and stearic acids. These acids enhance the skin’s hydration by preventing moisture loss. Linseed oil has been shown to penetrate skin’s uppermost layers easily, carrying other beneficial ingredients
