Comfrey: We love using this beautiful herb in our skincare products because it has a wonder ingredient, ‘allantoin’ which is said to be hydrating, naturally exfoliating, repairing, protecting and soothes the skin. Due to Comfrey’s high antioxidant status, topical application also helps to reduce free radical activity on the skin. Natural allantoin can actually help to reduce abnormal thickening of the skin caused by “keratinisation” - if this is out of balance more keratin than usual is produced and the structure of the barrier function is changed. Allantoin interacts with the skin’s keratin to thin out an abnormal, thick stratum corneum, and this is the reason that allantoin is known for leaving skin feeling smooth.

Beeswax (Cera Alba): Offers anti-inflammatory properties making it helpful when treating skin irritation. When applied to the skin, beeswax forms a protective barrier that helps protect it from environmental assaults while also holding in moisture. Like honey, beeswax has antibacterial properties which makes it a natural preservative. A great treatment on dermatitis, eczema, or any type of itching related to a skin condition. It is an anti-allergenic making it easily tolerated by even those with reactive skin.

Grape Seed Extract (Vitis Vinifera): We use grape seed extract because of its natural antioxidant properties. It has been traditionally used as a wound healer and anti-inflammatory, dating back to European folk healers. It is often used for its numerous properties that are thought to be beneficial, including as an anti-fungal, anti-microbial, antioxidant, and UV absorber ingredient. Vitis Vinifera contains malic acid, which is considered an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). AHA ingredients in cosmetics promote moisture restoration and help with the penetration of other ingredients.
