Simple Ingredients for a Complex World

“It is the essence of genius to make use of the simplest ideas.”
- Oscar Wilde
We aren't claiming to be geniuses here at deDANÚ but we do understand the power of simplicity; the idea that nature creates beautiful things, and these things, in their simplicity provide for us, nurture us and sustain us.
With this in mind, we welcome you to look at some of the seemingly simple ingredients we use in a number of our products, all formulated, manufactured and distributed from our laboratories in Athlone, Ireland.
Comfrey: We love using this beautiful herb in our skincare products because it has a wonder ingredient, allantoin’ which is said to be hydrating, naturally exfoliating, repairing, protecting and soothing the skin. Due to Comfrey’s high antioxidant status, topical application also helps to reduce free radical activity on the skin. Natural allantoin can actually help to reduce abnormal thickening of the skin caused by “keratinisation” - if this is out of balance more keratin than usual is produced and the structure of the barrier function is changed. Allantoin interacts with the skin’s keratin to thin out an abnormal, thick stratum corneum, and this is the reason that allantoin is known for leaving skin feeling smooth. We infused comfrey into our CBD Skin Salve. Check it out   here.

Hemp Seed Oil is great for most skin types as it moisturizes without clogging pores. It helps to balance out oily skin, hydrating it and regulating the skin's oil production while avoiding the overproduction of oil which stimulates acne. Our favourite benefit of hemp seed oil is its high levels of fatty acids, especially linoleic acid which strengthens the barrier of the outermost layer of the skin which helps keep the skin supple, smooth and healthy. We use hemp seed oil in many of our products (it's one of our favs). Check out our CBD Goddess Elixir, which pairs hemp seed oil with other gloriously divine seed oils! deDANÚ hemp seed oil is certified organic and sustainably sourced from our own licensed hemp farms and from our contract farmers.

Juniper Berry is known for its ability to act as a natural skin toner and reduce the appearance of skin blemishes. Juniper Berry will support a clear and healthy complexion. We infused juniper berry along with linseed oil and olive oil into our Phyto Face Cream, giving you a multi-purpose cream that packs a real punch! Did we mention it smells gorgeous too?

Linseed oil is famous for its polyunsaturated fatty acids, which include oleic, linoleic, palmitic and stearic acids. These acids enhance the skin’s hydration by preventing moisture loss. Linseed oil has been shown to penetrate skin’s uppermost layers easily, carrying other beneficial ingredients
Beeswax (Cera Alba): Offers anti-inflammatory properties making it helpful when treating skin irritation. When applied to the skin, beeswax forms a protective barrier that helps protect it from environmental assaults while also holding in moisture. Like honey, beeswax has antibacterial properties which makes it a natural preservative. A great treatment on dermatitis, eczema, or any type of itching related to a skin condition. It is an anti-allergenic making it easily tolerated by even those with reactive skin.

Grape Seed Extract (Vitis Vinifera): We use grape seed extract because of its natural antioxidant properties. It has been traditionally used as a wound healer and anti-inflammatory, dating back to European folk healers. It is often used for its numerous properties that are thought to be beneficial, including as an anti-fungal, anti-microbial, antioxidant, and UV absorber ingredient. Vitis Vinifera contains malic acid, which is considered an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). AHA ingredients in cosmetics promote moisture restoration and help with the penetration of other ingredients.

At deDANÚ, we often think of simplicity as creating skincare and wellness experiences that are remarkably effective and unexpectedly luxurious.
As you know, simplicity is not a new trend. It is growing in popularity given the current climate as we reach back to our roots and crave the simple things in life. Of course, it has been an inspiration for musicians, artists, poets, philosophers, visionaries, entrepreneurs, and leaders throughout the course of human history. We crave simplicity.
On that note, we will leave you with another quote and ask you the question, are you craving simplicity in your daily routines? Ready to switch to simple ingredients? Click here to browse deDANÚ's offerings.
“Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art.”
- Frederic Chopin
